Insurances
Q: Do you accept my insurance plan?
Answer: We only accept Eyemed and Medicare as primary insurances. But, we do provide out-of-network reimbursement forms for the following insurances; Davis Vision, V.S.P., N.V.A., and Keystone 65. We will complete and mail these forms for you.
Q: Why should I go out-of-network when I can use my insurance plan elsewhere?
Answer: By using your insurance plan, you are obligated to select from a limited group of lower quality frames that the insurance company has selected. The quality of your lenses will be poor, you will be taken care of by a "sales person" with very little optical knowledge. You will wait weeks for your eyeglasses to be made, only to have them come in wrong, and than need to have them remade. By coming to us and going out-of-network, you are able to select any frame in our store, cared for my certified opticians and your lenses will be custom made in our own lab. The quality of your new eyewear made by us will be incredible, and they will be completed "correctly" in 3 to 5 working days. We will complete the out of network form for you and you will receive a check in the mail. Please Visit our Insurance Section for More Information.
Q: Do you accept flex spending?
Answer: Yes we do, be sure to come in and purchase a new pair of eyeglasses or sunglasses before the year ends to take full advantage of your flex spending remaining funds.
Non-Rx Only & New Rx in Old/Current Frame
Q: Can you mount new Rx lenses into my old/current frame that doesn't have Rx lenses in them?
Answer: Yes! If you purchased a frame elsewhere we can fabricate your current Rx into your frame, except drug-store readers. If you don't have an Rx then please make an appointment with an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist to have your eyes examined, then visit us.
Q: If I decide to upgrade my current Rx and I want to use my current frame. Do I need to leave the frame with you for a long period of time.
Answer: No, most of the time you can wait about an hour while we do the final edging and fitting of the new lenses.
Q: Do you ONLY sell Rx eyeglasses and Rx sunglasses?
Answer: No, we carry an extensive line of non Rx Sunwear. It's important to stay up-to-date on the latest fashion even if you don't need an Rx. Eyewear today is another wardrobe accessory, you should have a pair for each occasion and activity.
Vacation
Q: I'm going on vacation in a few days - can I order Non-Rx or Rx glasses/sunglasses and have them before my trip?
Answer: Yes, it can be done! However, please keep in mind that delays and back orders for popular frames can occur as well as delays for Rx lenses.
Our Advice: If you know you are going away, don't wait until the last minute to order a new pair of eyewear.
Our Advice: If you know you are going away, don't wait until the last minute to order a new pair of eyewear.
Q: I'm going on vacation (beach or mountains). Should I purchase sunglasses even though I don't need prescription lenses?
Answer: Absolutely, whether it's bathing in the sun or going down the slopes, it's important to not only protect your eyes from the snow or sand, but also important to protect your eyes from harmful UV light rays. It's doesn't matter what season it is, harmful UV can reflect off of snow and water and cause UV-Related Cataracts or other related eye diseases. We recommend purchasing sunglasses that are polarized. Polarized lenses enhances and sharpens your vision in various environments and provides color clarity. You will enjoy your vacation even more with a pair of polar sunglasses!
Q: Do you sell Rx scuba masks/goggles?
Answer: Yes, we sell both; Non-Rx and Rx goggles/masks. We highly recommend these products for all ages. If you're going to spend time in the ocean on your vacation, then you should be able to enjoy and "see" the marine life.
Q: How can I avoid losing my new eyeglasses or sunglasses at the beach?
Answer: Losing anything while on vacation can happen anywhere, especially if you're at the beach. But, here are a few tips #1: Wear them at all times! We even sell floatable straps so your eyewear can float in the water if they accidentally fall off your face. #2: Purchase a second pair of sunglasses and clear eyeglasses. Nothing will ruin your trip faster than losing your new pair of eyewear and not be able to see for the remainder of your trip.
Why Should I Visit Currans and Not Shop Elsewhere or Online
Q: Why should I purchase eyewear from Curran Opticians instead of shopping online?
Answer: Shopping online may be good for those that don't require corrective lenses. But even those individuals should be cautious. There are many scams on the internet and when you see a Ray-Ban or Oakley being advertised for $19.99 it's most likely a fake. A lot of these frame manufacturers have a minimum price that a retailer can sell their frame for. Any vendor that sells it below that particular price is not a true authentic dealer, and they are most likely selling fake or discontinued products. Of course you can always buy eyewear directly from the manufactures' official website, but keep in mind, that they will not be able to adjust the frame to make it fit properly, and if they break you will have to mail them back.
Q: Why is it okay to buy online via Curran Optician's Shop Online Page and not someplace else?
Answer: Yes, We are certified opticians. We take our ordering process and make it available online. Other online websites have zero knowledge and experience when it comes to Opticianry. These websites instruct each online shopper to provide critical information; information that most individuals have no clue what they're entering. For instance, you're shopping for Rx glasses on a website and a lens option appears. You see the words "Hi-Index Lenses (thinner lenses)" and you automatically click this because you want thin lenses - who doesn't? But, what you didn't know is your Rx doesn't require Hi-Index lenses because you have a weak Rx. We will never sell you a lens option/material when it's not required. Hi-Index lenses should only be ordered for those with a very strong Rx. All of us at Currans went to school for Opticianry. With our knowledge and skills we can fabricate the thinnest lenses possible without the heavy price tag.
Q: Why should I visit Curran Opticians instead of a so called discount Optician or chainstore?
Chainstores and Discount Stores usually use all of their resources to advertise discounted eyewear on TV and Social Media. (Example: $39.99 for Complete Pair of Eyewear or Buy One Get One for Free) However, when you go to redeem their coupon or discount, they then show you a very limited and outdated selection of frames. At this point, you are totally displeased with the selection. The employee then shows you their better quality frames which are extremely overpriced. In other words, they only market their special discount just to get you to enter their store. At Curran's, we are all about quality, and fair and reasonable pricing. If you compare apples to apples you will not find a lower price. We refuse to play these bait and switch games. Also, we take the time to work with you one-on-one, to help you find the frame that not only is fashionable for you, but it also fits you properly! We guarantee customer satisfaction and all of our lenses are the thinnest and lightest possible, while providing crystal clear vision.
Progressives
Q: I just purchased progressives and I'm having difficulty getting adjusted to them. What should I do?
Answer: Continue to wear them for a few days, and if you're still are having problems then contact or visit your Optician for a necessary adjustment. Some customers purchase progressives and become frustrated once they notice any discomfort and they then take them on and off repeatedly throughout their day. Doing this does not help. In order to adjust to progressives lenses, the person needs to wear their new progressive lenses all day.
Sales & Promotions
Q: Do you offer any sales or promotions at your optical store?
Answer: Yes, we do offer seasonal sales throughout the year. We also have promotions on certain products for particular occasions, charities, and fundraisers. We also provide a discount when a customer purchases two pair. Follow our Facebook page and visit our Coupon/Promotions page on our website to take full advantage and stay up-to-date on our promotions and special offers.
Warranties and Policies
Q: Do you offer any warranties on your products?
Answer: Yes, We offer our own warranty; Customer Satisfaction Guarantee and a Lifetime of Free Adjustments. We also offer a Two Year Protection Plan for $30.00. This protection plan is free when a customer purchases a rimless frame with Rx lenses and a Crizal Anti-Reflective Coating.
Payment Plans and Finiancal Situations
Q: Can I make multiple payments?
Yes, we normally ask for 60% upfront but after that you can make as many payments as you like. Keep in mind that you will only receive your eyewear when your balance is fully paid.
Q: I'm in need of Rx eyewear, but I'm having financial issues. What can I do?
Answer: We are willing to work with you by providing the Rx eyewear that you need, but simply without the bells and whistles. What we often due is provide someone with a discontinued frame at half price, and give a generous discount on the lenses. We want to help people that are going through a rough time.
Hearing Aids
Q: I wear behind the ear hearing aids. Are there frames available that fit behind my ears better than my current frame so they don't interfere with my hearing aids?
Answer: Yes, I would recommend purchasing a frame that is 100% Titanium. Titanium is very strong and also it's the lightest frame material in the optical industry. The temples on these frames are extremely thin, so they don't interfere with your hearing aids.
