We are seeing a lot of contact wearers switching over to eyewear. And if YOU wear contacts then you should too!!

Those who wear contacts chose to wear them for multiple reasons:
- The Individual Didn't Like How They Looked in Eyewear Many Years Ago
- Friend or Family Member Convinced them to get Contacts Over Eyewear
- Sports Related
- Post Surgical Eye Disorders (Ex: Keratoconus)
Usually, an individual's appearance is the #1 reason that we see followed by a persuasion of a friend or family member. Appearance is everything! After all, when you first meet some one, how you act and look is perceived by others. However, eyewear has changed a lot over time, and it's becoming more popular and fashionable for ALL ages! If you wear contacts then I bet no one has ever commented on how you look wearing contacts, but if you wear eyewear today, then you're aware of all the compliments.
Some may lean away from eyewear because of the idea of cleaning and maintaining eyewear. But actually, eyewear is easier to maintain than contacts! (Check Out our Blog on Maintaining and Cleaning Eyewear).
Contacts - cleaning them every night is a must!! Even if you have the brand of contacts that are advertised as okay to sleep in and they last for 30 days, I wouldn't advice it. Too many times, contact wearers say to themselves - "I can wear them for one more day", and they say that for several days, and then they continue wearing them for a couple weeks more than what was advertised on the contacts package. If you have dailies, or weekly then you still need store them properly in your capsule case and buying these solutions and purchasing your new contacts constantly adds up quickly!
I've often heard stories from individuals that either wore contacts themselves or a friend of theirs wore contacts and ended up not able to wear them anymore because of improper cleaning and maintenance which lead to either corneal abrasions (dent in the eyeball itself due to forcefully putting them in and taking them out, or edema (swelling of the eye) . Edema is caused by bacteria building up in eye and (or) the contact itself. I've even heard stories that some contact wearers lick them with their tongue to clean them when they are without their proper cleaning solution.

Getting back to contact wearers that don't like how they look in eyewear. My advice is try eyewear again, but make sure you are getting quality made eyewear and not a cheap pair from a drug store, online, or from a mega-chain-store. By purchasing eyewear from these places is just going to push you away from wearing eyewear in the future. Especially if you fall for these "Special Deals" that advertised as Free Eyewear with an Eye Exam or Eyewear that costs $69.00. If you do, then you will be given a limited selection of frames and I guarantee that you won't like any of them.
